A quote for “all four wisdom teeth” should identify which teeth are being treated and why. Do not assume that all four require the same procedure or that one appointment is automatically the best clinical choice.
Separate per-tooth charges from shared charges
Make four rows for the teeth in the proposed plan. Beside each, record the procedure description and quoted charge. Then make a separate list for consultation, imaging, anaesthesia, facilities and follow-up. Ask which charges are shared and which apply individually.
Questions about one visit or more than one
- What is the clinical reason for the proposed timing?
- What would change if treatment happened in more than one visit?
- Which charges would repeat and which would not?
- What recovery arrangements should I make for the proposed plan?
- If insurance is involved, what has the plan actually confirmed?
Timing a procedure solely around a benefit renewal or a package price can leave out the treatment need. Discuss both clinical and financial questions before making arrangements.
Compare two quotes without losing their context
Record whether both offices assessed the same teeth and proposed the same treatment. Ask about differences rather than assuming that a larger total represents an unnecessary service. Keep the date, exclusions and payment terms beside the quoted total.
What changed
Obtain the procedure, shared fees and insurance assumptions in writing before comparing total quotes. A staged plan needs its own estimate rather than an assumed cost increase.
